CORE BELIEFS

After struggling for years with the core belief statement that says, “the rug will always be pulled out from under me”  I set out on a journey to either figure out a formula or get deliverance! This core belief statement had me bound and deceived.

I stepped away from full time ministry and ran into a cave to hide.  It was in this cave that God began to strip down everything I ever knew and everything I learned from a pulpit. Everything.

This was a season that I began to question what I was taught:

Do I even believe in hell?
Do I believe in salvation?
Do I believe that Jesus was real and not metaphorical?

This is after a decade in full time ministry and traveling with an international  renowned ministry and after BIBLE SCHOOL.

Was I losing my mind?  Was I losing my salvation? What is wrong with me? I was so frustrated with God and would scream out, “just freaking show me the formula then!! What am I doing wrong?

I was mad and I told God I would never step foot back in a church again. E-V-E-R. I was angry with his people and their divisive competitive ways. I was mad that I could build and build and see success and then it would get swept away.

But I knew this Jesus that loved me was big enough to handle my anger and my frustration.  And this Jesus was big enough to show me through. It was in these three years of stripping down to the basics that God began to speak to my heart and show me there was not formula, there was only beliefs.

There were either beliefs that were anchored in fear or love.  Beliefs that were either anchored in the fruit of the spirit, love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control or anchored in fear, lack, anger, poverty, comparison, jealousy, disbelief and lack.   IT WAS THAT SIMPLE! It wasn’t a formula, it was a key. That key was a principle. That principle unlocked a new world around me. That principle unlocked revelation and understanding a deeper compassion for the world around me.

My prayer is that you will journey through with me into some life changing principles. Principles that the enemy has hidden from us.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 NIV

DEFINING BELIEVE

I studied the word BELIEVE.  I know we just throw that word around a lot. However, there is a very strong force behind the word believe.

Example:  If I am holding a glass cup in the air and I ask you if you believe in gravity, you will all tell me “YES, of COURSE” and in fact, you will not let go of that glass cup because you do KNOW and BELIEVE that gravity is real and you do NOT want to clean up that glassy mess.

But, if I ask you if you believe in “seed, time and harvest” or “you reap what you sow” or “karma” whatever it is you call it (it is a spiritual principle, not matter what title you give it) you will tell me “oh yes, I totally believe in reaping and sowing”  I will tell you that most of us do NOT BELIEVE it.

We may KNOW it, but we don’t BELIEVE it.  Why? Because we still cast judgment and gossip.  If we remotely, can say one ill word or have one ill judgment of another person or the way they live their life.  We do not BELIEVE in this principle, we KNOW this principle.

How many more principles do we KNOW and not BELIEVE.  If you understand scripture, yet act contrary to it, you do not BELIEVE it, you KNOW it.  And it takes a few “butt kickings” to get it 8 inches from our head to our heart. In my case, it took A LOT!

WHAT IS GOD’S WILL?

Belief is a strong purpose or aim, accompanied by a determination to produce a desired will that won’t permit anything to interfere with achieving our inner desire.  Which is AWESOME when our inner desire is aligned with GOD’s DESIRE and WILL for our life.

Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God wants us to be saved from darkness and come into all truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4).

God wants us to be grateful. Yep, that simple, just be grateful. (1 Thess 5:18).

God wants you to be set apart and sexually pure. The NUMBER 1 place the enemy comes to destroy our is through sexual trauma and sexual acting out. Our sexual identity is tied to our identity and value. It is spiritual. (1 Thess 4:3).

God wants you to do good, just do good (it silences foolish people) (1 Pet 2:15).

God wants you to be fair, have mercy on others and be humble (Micah 6:8).

And God wants you to persevere in all of these things so that you will receive all the promises. (Heb 10:36)

That is the will of the Father for your life. The key is to align your heart and core belief statements with those attributes.  Everything else you desire that aligns with HIS heart, God wants to co-create with you. That is why you desire it, God put it in your heart to build.

When you set out to believe something, you must have a pit-bull kinda resolve or determination. You cannot let go. You cannot give in.  You must become a person with a never-give-up attitude combined with an internal picture that propels you toward fulfilling your dreams/assignment/purpose/call.

I found that the key attribute between “never give up’s” and “give up’s”  is this: a victor mentality vs a victim mentality. You are either Victor or Victim.  Every decision you make is a victim decision or a victor decision. It is really your choice.  Fear and trauma keep us from making victor choices. Faith keeps us making victor choices. Victor’s are super-achiever’s and are proud of their ability to recognize and take advantage of opportunities that arise.
